iContribute is a not for profit startup organization that connects students to local volunteer opportunities.

Mission Statement:

Our goal is to foster community involvement amongst youth. The iContribute platform connects high school and university students to volunteer opportunities in their area. We have partnered with registered charities, non-profit organizations, and community organizations to present volunteer opportunities to students so that they can make an impact in their local communities.

At iContribute, safety is a number one priority. As a result, our co-founding team thoroughly verifies and vets each organization that comes onboard through a three-factor authentication process.

Here is how our vetting process works:

  1. We make sure that the organization is registered as a charity or non-profit organization on Canada Revenue Agency's website.

  2. We manually verify every organization's website to make sure they have a credible site.

  3. Lastly, we have a face-to-face call with the volunteer coordinator of the organization to validate their identity.

All of these steps occur before the organizer is able to make an account on our platform. A member of our team reviews each organization’s account before they can post volunteer opportunities. Despite our best efforts at verifying every volunteer organization on our platform, students must still volunteer at their own discretion.

Anyone over the age of 13 can volunteer through iContribute! We are currently focusing our efforts on the Ottawa community because that is where our co-founding team began their journey. Once we gain traction, we look forward to expanding to neighboring cities.

In response to COVID-19, the iContribute team has recently rolled out the option for Organizations to post Virtual Opportunities, so that users can volunteer from the comfort of their home.

Here is an excerpt of some tips from the WHO:

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Maintain at least 1 metre distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your face. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell.
  • Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
  • Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.

For more information, please visit the Government of Canada's website for free resources on safety and information during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lastly, before you leave to attend a volunteering event, make sure to inform your parents or guardian.

iContribute displays local volunteer opportunities to students. Once a student finds an opportunity they are interested in, they will be directed to one of two options depending on the type of event an Organization has created. The first option automatically redirects the student to the organization’s website. The second option is that we automatically draft an email for the student, containing pre-filled relevant information, which they could then manually send to the organizer.
Yes, iContribute is a completely free platform for both students and organizations.
